Liquid batteries face thermal runaway risks due to the flammability, corrosiveness of their liquid electrolyte solvents and lithium dendrites. In contrast, solid-state batteries are non-flammable, thermally stable, can suppress lithium dendrites, and have higher energy density. In 2024, automotive, smartphone, battery and materials companies announced progress in the solid-state battery industry, such as vivo releasing a semi-solid battery-equipped phone series and Tailan New Energy developing a high-energy-density all-solid-state battery. This year, policies from relevant departments involve solid-state batteries, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's new safety requirements may accelerate solid-state battery tech advancement. The technological iteration path from liquid to solid-state batteries is expected to be electrolyte - anode - cathode. Current mainstream solid electrolyte routes are oxides, sulfides, and polymers, with halides gaining attention; the anode will use graphite and silicon - carbon in the short term and metallic lithium in the long term; high energy density needs will drive cathode development towards high - nickel and lithium - rich materials.

In the transition from liquid batteries to solid-state batteries, the anticipated technological iteration path is electrolyte-anode-cathode. The current mainstream technological routes for solid electrolytes include oxides, sulfides, and polymers, while halide routes have gradually attracted market attention in recent years; the anode will mainly use graphite and silicon-carbon in the short term, and is expected to switch to metallic lithium in the long term; the high energy density requirements of solid-state batteries will drive the cathode to develop towards high nickel and lithium-rich materials.
